Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team is the team of retired 7-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong and is sponsored by Discovery Channel, a brand of Discovery Communications, Inc., the leading global real-world media company with operations in 170 countries and territories. The team is looking to return to California with four top ten final finishers from the inaugural event, including the 2006 USA Cycling national road racing champion George Hincapie and the Amgen Tour of California KOM winner Levi Leipheimer. New to the team for 2007 is Italian star Ivan Basso. The team kicked off 2006 by winning two stages at the Amgen Tour of California and had continued success throughout the season by placing 2nd and 3rd at the famed Tour of Flanders race, winning the overall team classification at the Ford Tour de Georgia, and winning a stage and wearing the leader's jersey in each of the three Grand Tours (Giro d'Italia, Tour de France & Vuelta a España). As the most powerful American team in the Pro Tour, the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team is planning to fight hard to secure the overall win at the 2007 Tour of CA.
